AOL's Running Man, Bud's Clydesdales inducted; State Farm and Virginia slogans also honored

By Eleftheria Parpis

AOL's Running Man and the Budweiser Clydesdales were inducted into the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame yesterday. The Bud horses weren't able to make it to Times Square, where Advertising Week executive director Matt Scheckner announced the public's choice for this year's honorees, but the Running Man entertained the crowd of Advertising Week delegates and perplexed tourists with a victory dance. Two slogans were also inducted: State Farm's "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" and the Virginia Bureau of Tourism's "Virginia is for lovers." Last year's icon winners were the Geico cavemen and the Serta sheep.

I think it's pretty sad when a pair of dummies who have helped save thousands of lives lose to a "Icon" whose only claim to fame is that he can run as fast as a 56K modem.

Completely bogus. Next thing you'll hear is that Don Draper has been inducted into the Advertising or One Club Hall of Fame.
